Frequently Asked Questions

To install Survo Foam Acoustic Panels, you have three options: self-adhesive pads, contact spray adhesive, or Velcro strips. For each method, ensure your wall is clean, dry, and free of dust, and allow materials to acclimate to room temperature before installation. Follow the specific steps for your chosen method outlined in our datasheet (whether pressing Tile Tabs, applying spray adhesive, or securing Velcro strips) to position and firmly adhere your panels for a lasting, effective bond.

Acoustic foam can help with bass absorption in principle, but effectively absorbing frequencies below 50Hz would require very large foam traps. For deeper bass treatment, polyester fibre bass traps like Spectrum 2.0 Traps are a more practical choice.

It depends on the room’s size and purpose. As a rough guide bedroom studios (6-12 SQM floor area) require around 2-4 SQM of foam and larger rooms (12-20 SQM floor area) require 5-8 SQM of foam.

No, acoustic foam is designed for acoustic treatment, not soundproofing. While it can contribute in certain soundproofing setups, effective soundproofing primarily requires adding mass, like extra plasterboard or secondary glazing. For complete soundproofing, feel free to contact us – we’d be happy to discuss your project and offer guidance and recommend products.

When installing Survo Foam, you should consider the mounting surface. The right surface should ensure a secure, long-lasting installation. Suitable for walls and ceilings but can be attached to any hard surface. Possible surfaces include:

Drywall or plasterboard – Panels can be mounted directly using adhesive and black drywall screws.

Concrete walls – Panels can be adhered with heavy-duty adhesive and black screws.

Brick and masonry walls – Panels can be affixed using heavy duty adhesive and black screws.

Lightly painted walls – Surfaces should be roughened slightly to improve adhesion. Avoid glossy, heavily textured or damaged painted walls.

Selecting the right compatible surface ensures secure panel installation and optimal acoustic performance.

Yes, but using adhesive only as self-adhesive methods such as Survo Self-Adhesive Pads may hold but are not approved or recommended due to gravity.

To maintain and clean your foam acoustic panels, regularly dust them with a vacuum on low or a soft brush, and spot clean stains using a mild soap solution or rubbing alcohol. Avoid excess moisture to preserve their sound-absorbing qualities and prevent UV exposure to keep them from discolouring, especially with our blue foam panels as these are less UV-stable.

Absolutely! Survo Foam acoustic panels can be easily cut to size if necessary. To achieve clean cuts, use a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. Start by marking your desired cut, aligning the straight edge, and then make several shallow passes with the knife while keeping it perpendicular to the foam for a smooth finish. This technique guarantees precise cuts and clean edges.
