Tonus Grid is an innovative acoustic lattice baffle system that offers a remarkable solution for enhancing sound clarity and reducing echo reverberation. Suspended from the ceiling, this system is constructed from compressed recycled polyester, rendering it an environmentally conscious choice. The angled grid design is meticulously engineered to maximise sound absorption, making it an ideal solution for spaces with elevated ceilings and open-plan layouts.

A key advantage of the Tonus Grid lies in its lightweight construction and ease of installation. It features adjustable suspension heights, allowing for customisation to suit specific requirements, and includes all necessary mounting hardware. Versatile and suitable for a diverse range of applications, including offices, auditoriums, and public areas, the Tonus Grid not only improves acoustics but also adds a modern, dynamic aesthetic to the environment.

  • Hanging acoustic lattice baffle system
  • Designed to improve sound clarity and minimise echo
  • Made from compressed recycled polyester
  • Grid pattern improves absorption by dispersing noise through angled shapes

Frequently Asked Questions

Installing our Tonus Grid is simple, and you won’t necessarily need a specialist installer. First you will need to organise and connect the individual baffles together to form the grid layout. Each grid comes with the required number of suspension kits, depending on its size, which should be placed approximately 150mm to 200mm from the grid’s edge, then evenly spread and securely fastened. Once in place, the adjustable wires can be attached to the soffit using the Top Hat fixings included. You can see our full installation guide on our product datasheet on this page.

Determining the optimal quantity of Tonus Grid isn’t an exact science. Broadly, increased surface coverage leads to greater sound absorption and reduced echo. As a general guideline, aiming to cover approximately 30% to 50% of the ceiling area typically results in effective sound absorption.

Tonus Grid core material is a compressed polyester manufactured using post-consumer recycled polyester from plastic bottles.

Each Tonus Grid order will come with the correct amount of hanging kits. These kits consist of a Top Hat fixing (bullet which screws into the ceiling), 2m Adjustable Wire, Clamp (this is to feed the wire through and screw fix to the baffle). The only fixings you will need in addition to these hanging kits are the screws to attach the Top Hat fixing to the soffit. We do not supply these screws as the appropriate screws will dependant on your soffit structure ie. Plasterboard, concrete, timber which your local DIY store will be able to recommend.

Although we offer the most popular grid designs on our website, there are other design options to choose from. Simply get in touch and we can discuss all options with you.

Yes, although we have a standard range of the most popular sizes it is possible to have a customised shape or size of the Tonus Grid to suit your requirements. However, there are some limitations in these shapes and max sizes that are possible to manufacture due to weight and panel size. Please get in touch to discuss what’s possible.

When installing the Tonus™ Grid, you should consider the mounting surface. The right surface should ensure a secure, long-lasting installation. Suitable surfaces include:

  • Drywall: Attach grid using suitable screws, ensuring the drywall is in good condition.
  • Concrete: Use appropriate fasteners like concrete screws or anchors to securely attach grid.
  • Plywood: Mount grid directly or install plywood as a substrate over other surfaces.
  • Metal Studs: In commercial/industrial spaces, attach grid directly to metal studs using suitable screws.
  • Suspended Ceiling: Fix through the ceiling tile and then into a timber pattress for support or use lighting/signage clips to suspend from the ceiling grid.
  • Exposed Beams: In open spaces, use clamps or brackets designed for beam mounting. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and capable of supporting the grid’s weight.

The only fixings you will need in addition to the supplied hanging kits are the screws to attach the Top Hat fixing to the soffit. We do not supply these screws as the appropriate screws will dependant on your soffit structure ie. Plasterboard, concrete, timber which your local DIY store will be able to recommend.

Our Tonus Grid comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty, providing coverage for any defects in materials or workmanship. This warranty is to ensure peace of mind for our customers, guaranteeing reliable performance and quality assurance.

Our Tonus Grid has been tested and offers EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009 Fire classification of construction products and building elements—Part 1: Classification using data from reaction to fire tests, Class B.

Tonus Grid effectively absorbs direct sound and reflections from ceilings and upper wall sections. While it doesn’t address noise transfer between rooms, it noticeably diminishes noise within an open area. Installing the appropriate number of baffles achieves significant results, reducing echo and reverberation for a quieter, more tranquil atmosphere. Calculate the estimated quantity needed for your space and discover what results could be achieved using our reverberation time calculator.

Tonus Grid has great acoustic properties and offers a high level of sound absorption to reduce unwanted echo and reverberation. For a breakdown of the acoustic performance tested against different frequencies, please see our datasheet in the downloads section on this page.

Tonus Grid is manufactured in and shipped from the UK.

Tonus Grids offer versatile solutions for spaces affected by reverberation and echo, particularly those with speech clarity and noise volume issues. Suited for various environments such as offices, meeting rooms, hotels, restaurants, village halls, schools, atriums, gymnasiums, and rehearsal spaces. These high-performing wall panels effectively enhance room acoustics by addressing noise that is typically at ear level, minimising reverberation and reflected sound. They are especially beneficial in areas with high ceilings and minimal available wall space.

Yes, the wire hanging kits provided with Tonus Grid are adjustable meaning that you can easily alter the height by simply pressing down on the eyelet hook that the wire feeds through. We recommend a minimum suspension drop of 150mm-200mm for optimal acoustic performance.
